Abstract

Increasing energy prices and its shortage influence us to think seriously about energy consuption habits, as well as their savings at all levels. There is a need for energy – sustainable construction that reduces the negative impact on the environment, in which the building uses a mnimum of energy, and some even produce it. In order to achieve this, a high quality of construction and the use of materials with unlimited architectural solutions are necessary. However, the construction of such an object requires higher investments in comparasion to classic construction, specialized craftsmen and construction equipment, as well as obtaining the necessary permits. However, thanks to the energy savings, such an investment will pay for itself within a few years. Statistics show that buildings consume about 40% of the total energy consumption in the USA and European Union, and based on this fact, in the „Energy Efficiency Plan 2011“, the European Commission stated that the greatest energy saving potential lies in buildings. Regarding the above, we can state that energy – efficient buildings are becoming more and more interesting. Although they are only one part of the global energy efficiency, their construction comes to the fore in today's time. This paper presents the styles, division and construction of low – energy buildings, their advantages and disadvantages through energy – efficient construction.
