Abstract

The primary role of conducting an investigation of a traffic accident is to document records of material and other facts, ie traces found at the scene. Collected traces and records are used for the purpose of describing, proving the cause and course of occurrence and consequences of a traffic accident for the purposes of expertise and further research. In addition to conventional methods and procedures for conducting inspections, an important role is the use of innovative technologies for the purpose of improving the inspection process. Quality finding and fixing of material traces is important for further processes of determining all the facts of the causes, course of events and consequences of traffic accidents. Newer technologies, such as the use of computer applications, drones or three-dimensional scanners, provide opportunities for quality documentation of the scene without major subjective errors that can be made by staff when conducting inspections. The use of such technological solutions provides accurate data from the scene with the possibility of digitization of collected data, their storage, the need for expertise of the accident or for further research.
