Abstract

For achieving higher speeds for composite rocket fuels, it is important to use 1,3-diferocenyl1-butene as a catalyst. The laboratory synthesis of this catalyst is a very complex and demanding process performed in anhydrated solvents. Because of this, such synthesis can hardly adapt to work with larger quantities of chemicals. The paper presents significant improvements to the entire synthesis process, especially the reduction and condensation process in composite fuel processing. Lithium aluminum hydride was substituted as a reducing agent with sodium borohydride and the reaction was not to be performed under anhydrous conditions. In the condensation reaction, the amount of agenas and solvents
are significantly reduced. These improvements have enabled the realization of poly-industrial production
of 1,3-diferocenyl-1-butene in larger quantities.
