Abstract

Higher education, as academic training at one of the higher education institutions (faculties, colleges, academies), is a complex social activity. In the modern world, it increasingly relies on the results of the general experience and the results of relevant scientific research, which aims at its planning, organization, functioning and improvement. It is not only about the whole activity of the university, but also about each part of it, to each of its sub-systems. The aim of this paper is to articulate the improvement of the curricula of the Faculty of Economics through the retention of scientific independence, but at the same time creating an environment for an active and responsible contribution to the development of a society in which higher education operates. The work is based on the thesis that higher education, that is, the Faculty of Economics must take into account the needs of the environment, the increase of academically educated citizens, training them for lifelong learning. The basic research question in the paper is: What kind of curricula do we need today to best answer the needs of a modern society?
