Under the influence of globalization processes, the world economy has become a flexible, open and integrated. The rapid technological advancement, knowledge, education, training, free movement of labor and capital and other factors of quality have become growth drivers that cause permanent changes in the way of development and the improvement of national competitiveness. The opportunity to join the developed countries in transition countries has never in history been so accessible, but also the risk of leaks that opportunity has never been so great. Do not respond to this historic challenge, meaning long-term stagnate or even regress. Global success is always the result of a local process, where in some countries, their cultures, values and institutional environment have a crucial importance. Each national economy and its competitive position depend on the quality of available human capital, and investment in him and his use of is main factors of development. Education increases the competitiveness of the economy through the provision of the necessary quality of human resources. It is education that provides the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that are individual needs to realize work and social roles. Increase in the proportion of highly educated labor force and the corresponding changes in the educational system are prerequisites in achieving strategic goals. This article will explicate the notion and meaning of national competitiveness and its dependence on the national education system and methodology for measuring the competitiveness of the national economy.
