Globalization processes, progressive multiplication of science discoveries, new technologies, the emergence of new forms of literacy in which the significant place takes ecological literacy, are all reasons that make the ecological literacy educational imperative. Ecological education emerges as an inevitable factor of social processes, including fundamental ecological values, knowledge and skills in educational system. Greatest contribution to activities in this field should come from schools and educational workers who are directly engaged in educational work with pupils, as well as institutions, organizations and associations intended for vocational training of educational workers.Ecological education as well as forming the ecological way of thinking, should start in the earliest age, thus it is a significant role of educational institutions at all levels of knowledge, skills and habits acquisition of ecological literacy. In order to achieve cooperation between
school institutions and other aspects and forms of informal education which are connected to living environment, it need to be done so many things when planning systematical, continuous and planed program organization, which still depend just on individual or group enthusi-asm. Conclusion sublimates the most important message which can be concluded after treating these relevant issues of our society – it is necessary trough education to give pupils knowledge about ecology and sustainable development.
