Abstract

Implementation of information systems in government institutions implies following latest world and European standards in information and communication technologies and has almost always the prerequisite for training and professional development of staff. It is important to note that these are different types of users, ranging from those who do not even have basic knowledge in the IT field to experienced professionals. Training and sharing of knowledge between users increases effectiveness and efficiency of the business. Every state institution, when implementing any ready-made information system, certainly does not meet all the requirements that occur within that institution, because it is based on a specific analysis and specification of requirements that at the time of system design could not cover all potential institutions and users or were not adequate inputs as system building requirements. Accordingly, there are difficulties in the implementation and use of information systems, resulting in different situation of e-government in different countries. This paper will provide an overview about situation of e-government in Bosnia and Herzegovina in relation to the Republic of Croatia and Serbia with guidelines for further development.
