Sustainable development of advanced seaports in recent times is significantly based on the new institutional trends relating to incorporation (particularly in the area of corporate social responsibility) and the reform of the governance structure (specialization, territorial integration in complex logistics supply chain). The aim of this paper is to show the
importance of new institutional trends in the maritime industry, in part of advanced seaports. The essence of these changes is the distancing from the traditional institutional, economic, organizational and political elements, which have proven to be the brake further development. All of these new institutional trends and institutional-organizational restructuring
implemented in order to support sustainable development and increasing competitiveness and competence of advanced seaports. They are coming after a number of theoretical studies, which have shown the importance of institutional and propulsion components for economic development in general and sustainable development of advanced seaports. As a result of the new circumstances, the decision-makers in seaports, terminals and logistics operators must adapt to changing circumstances and use positive experiences of exemplary models in the world of the new requirements of the market, partnerships, strategies, contracts, property rights, and projects
