Research of the influence of shock-apsorbers correctness condition and the car speed in the moment of breaking on the length of vehicle breaking distance. The motor vehicle inspections revealed that huge number of cars have poor schock absorbers characterised with reduced technical characteristics with respect to the amplitude reduction and different efficency of the schock absorption in the left and right wheel of the front and rear axis. The fact that there is a huge number of old vehicles with huge mailage in the traffic justified the reasearch into the question what impact the age and mailage of the vehicles have to the condition of the shock absorbers. The reserach has reveal the influence of the charactersitics of the shock absorbers and given speed at the moment of breaking to the lenght of the breaking path. Since in most of the cases the drivers can not detect if the shock absorbers are broken, it is necessary to establsih adequate procedures and methods for discovering malfunctioning of the absorbers. Reducing the number of shock absorbers defualts will increase technical charactersitics of the vehicle and reduce the traffic accident risks.
