Abstract

This labor will present the energy efficiency system in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Energy efficiency implies a series of measures taken to reduce energy consumption, which do not undermine living and working conditions. The results of increased efficiency when using energy are significant financial savings, but also a better quality of life and work environment. It is important to say that energy efficiency should not be observed as energy savings, as saving always implies certain waivers, while efficient use of energy never distorts working conditions and living conditions. Through numerous projects implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it has been proved that there are small and medium enterprises that are capable of implementing energy efficiency measures. Furthermore, local governments and citizens increasingly become aware of the benefits of implementing energy efficiency measures. Unfortunately, one of the biggest obstacles to the implementation of energy efficiency measures is, to a greater extent, still present, which is the unavailability of funding mechanisms. Both public and private sectors have limited funding options and, with limited resources, the BiH energy efficiency industry will continue to stagnate. Along with the existence of a financing model, the energy efficiency industry could use its great potential and create so many new jobs in BiH.
