Abstract

In the most developed countries, traffic is a significant source of environmental  pollution. Increasing living standards and traffic culture, have led to an increased number of  cars that transport networks can not serve well. Because of this there is a major congestion in  the traffic system. The paper describes the major traffic impacts on the environment. In  addition, the work presents, as well, many advantages to using urban public transport in relation to the individual motor vehicle. Promotion of public transport, including benefits, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions, has many other additional advantages in terms of cost savings, reduce costs, better quality public transport, a smaller number of traffic accidents, better air quality, which is reflected in the quality of life and health of people living in cities. Public transport plays a significant role in finding solutions to the challenges we face on a daily basis. Increased investment in public transportation leads to improved quality of life in cities.
