Occupational safety economics aims to study the economic consequences of unfavorable working conditions and inadequate occupational safety and their impact on business results. The paper analyzes the injuries and sick leaves over a period of seven years in one of the mines in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The number of lost working hours as well as losses in production, both in physical and financial volume, is also showed. In addition, a financial assessment of a fatality of a worker is given along with the suggestions on how to prevent or minimize such accidents.
