Abstract

This scientific work will investigate the current state of traffic of the most important cargo in three North Adriatic ports: Trieste, Koper and Rijeka. It's concluded that the most important cargo from the ports of Trieste, Koper and Rijeka are: 1. general cargo, 2. dry bulk cargo, 3. liquid cargo, 4. in total 1, 2 and 3 and 5. containers. The Port of Trieste only achieved a drop in container traffic. The Port of Koper achieved the growth of all kinds of cargo. The Port of Rijeka only achieved a drop in dry bulk cargo traffic. In 2016., the ports of Trieste and Rijeka recorded the growth of all other selected cargo types. The paper also discusses the focus of the management activities of listed ports in the future
