Abstract

The transportation service procurement is a very important activity, because it has a huge impact on the overall operating costs of the company. Choosing the right carrier with minimal costs is not an easy task for user of transport service. The nature of demand for transport service is often variable in time, which makes it difficult to carriers presenting responsive offers, that will satisfy both stakeholders. The goal of the work is to use relevant literature describe problems in the transportation service procurement and bring closer the current trends in the world regarding that. Depending on whether the auction of transportation service procurement carrier seeks to maximize his earnings or the user tends to minimize his costs, the paper elaborated three types of problems: Bid Generation Problem (BGP), Carrier Assignment Problem (CAP) and Collaboration (Cooperation). A description of the issues and setting their models contributes to a clearer perception of the situation in the market of transport services in terms of transportation service procurement.
