Abstract

Over the past period of driver training and driver examinations, various changes have been introduced to try to improve the capabilities of new drivers and reduce the risk of participating in traffic accidents. The changes introduced are intended to address driver inexperience and behavior of new drivers. This is primarily the introduction of a minimum number of driving times before driving the driver's exam, improving the quality of training through new content and methods for achieving high-level skills, longer driving time, self-driving, and perceiving danger testing. After obtaining the driver's license, trial periods with restrictions and protection measures for new drivers were introduced for a period of up to two years. Despite these measures, participation in traffic accidents of new drivers at the age of 18 to 24 years has continued to increase compared to other age groups. Research suggests that this is probably due to two key factors, lack of driving experience and age-related factors such as biological development, distraction, susceptibility to environmental and psychophysical conditions. What's still possible to change in the behavior of drivers by introducing new technologies, such as e-learning, modern driving simulators, smart car systems, or future autonomous vehicles run by drivers without drivers.
