This study focuses on inevitability of monitoring the factors that influence emission of GHG originating from road transport. It is of immense importance that so far no relevant referential model exists for estimation and assessment of road transport GHG emissions in a reporting software tool that is officially recognized by UNFCCC and EEA, necessary for consequent analyses of potential mitigation scenarios, with Canton and City of Sarajevo in focus, as the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. COPERT 4 is a software tool for modeling the road transport of regions and countries and estimation of its emissions. It is an integral part of EMEP/EEA Emission Inventory Guidebook methodology, UNFCCC, UNECE, TFEIP, UNECE CLRTAP. COPERT 4 is used in estimating the emissions of pollutants, namely CO, NOx, VOC, PM, NH3, SO2, heavy metals, and GHG CO2, N2O, CH4. Its application is recommended by 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories. A special section of the study has established the relevance and impact of the quality of city's public transport in its wider sense.
