Abstract

This paper presents a humble contribution to contemporary understanding of social responsibility. Namely, we are witnessing the fact that in the theory and practice is increasingly used the concept of social responsibility, which is as a new business topic appeared at the beginning of the 60s of the last century, and implies an obligation of management structures to monitor the challenges and taking actions that will simultaneously contribute to the welfare of the company and interests of society. Social responsibility entails taking responsibility for activities that go beyond the purely profit interests, whereby in
relation to society and the environment goes beyond what is stipulated by applicable laws. Corporate social responsibility in Europe is being promoted as one of the important objectives of the Lisbon summit of heads of European states from the 2000th year in which the European economy wanted to make the world's most competitive, and establish them on knowledge and social cohesion.
