MOGUĆNOSTI PRIMJENE PROJEKT MENADŽMENTA TROŠKOVA U POMORSKIM FIRMAMA/ PROJECT COSTS MANAGEMENT APPLICATION POSSIBILITIES IN SHIPPING COMPANIES

Abstract

Costs management, as a part of Project Management, describes managers activities in short and long-term planning and costs controlling. It is about a multidisciplinary field, which requires project datas strict management in order to maintain an accurate insight in a project status and progress, as well as usage of standardized processes and tools by which 
informations accuracy and reliability are provided. The paper is based on hypothesis that Costs Management in Project Management has a broad focus, becouse it is not just about costs reducing, but additional costs planning in order to achieve an increased customers satisfaction, higher product quality, and business revenue and profit increasement. A specific example of the Net Present Value application is presented, as a method of capital costeffectiveness of a ship purchase. It is explained how the positive Net Present Value, as a typical methodology, is used to come to conclusion whether the two newbuilding ships purchasing project is acceptable for a shipping company
