The paper in general elaborates causes of disruptions of driving comfort and safety in railway traffic, that are expressed in smaller railways, and which are also in the Balkans. Additionally, the relationship of these phenomena with increasing maintenance costs and inter-track vehicle life is clearly drawn, and how that adversely affects the economics of
railway operations and the country to which they belong. The problem of staff knowledge is emphasized to solve this problem satisfactorily.
