It is not difficult to notice that, especially in the past ten years, an increasing number of young people have left Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some have left in search of employment, others because they do not see a perspective in our country, while the most significant group of young people has gone to study at prestigious Western European universities. In this paper, we will focus on and analyze the question of why an increasing number of students from Bosnia and Herzegovina are choosing to study abroad and what motivates them. We will also explore the opportunities and advantages offered by universities in Western European countries. Furthermore, we will discuss the bilateral agreements that Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed
with Western European countries such as Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands, as well as the growing interest in studying in Spain and other Western European nations. The paper will also examine the opportunities available for Bosnian students to work during their studies through student employment services in these countries, the assimilation of
Bosnian students abroad, and their chances of staying and finding employment after graduation. Finally, we will consider the benefits of studying abroad and the potential for returning to Bosnia and Herzegovina and finding employment after obtaining higher education degrees and acquiring the necessary competencies, skills, and knowledge abroad.
