The subject of analytical harmonization in the work are the elements of residential space, as components of the whole of residential space, which is the dominant part of human settlements, as a space for family development. The living space is intended for the organization of family life and is designed to carry out all vital activities for the smooth development of the family, with two basic purposes: the living space or living room as the noisy part of the living space and the night space or quiet part of the living space. Each of these parts has appropriate rooms that are interconnected and form a single residential unit in which family activities take place. Therefore, the living space formed in apartments or family houses is organized according to the needs of the family, with the volume dimensioned according to the number of family members and with rooms organized on one or more levels. Each housing unit is made up of a series of rooms that are connected to each other, and this paper examines the basic constituent elements of the living space, i.e. the characteristics of the basic rooms of the living space, which are important when designing individual rooms. In this way, a basic analysis of the elements of the living space is carried out.
