Given that today we are facing a financial and energy crisis caused by the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine at the beginning of 2022, we would like to draw special attention to the impact of green business in the hotel industry on the environment and energy efficiency. First of all, green hotels are designed and built according to the principles of sustainable development and they are more efficient in the use of energy, water and materials for maintenance. In the construction phase of this type of hotel, additional costs arise, but on the other hand, this affects the more efficient operation of the hotel and the investment is returned in a short period of time. Although this type of business is mainly used by hoteliers for financial reasons, on the other hand, it brings great economic effects. In international practice, this way of doing business is used more than in Croatia. Green practices applied in the hotel industry are energy efficiency, recycling, green roofs, solar panels, etc. There are numerous reports showing that green practices in the hotel industry reduce water consumption by 20%, reduce garbage collection costs by 15%, improve the environment, increase staff motivation and improve staff communication. The aim of this work is to point out the advantages of green hotel management and its impact on the environment and energy efficiency.
