Fojnica abounds in natural beauty and the richness of untouched nature. Mountain peaks, green slopes, sources of drinking water is a treasure that offers an environment of healthy living. Finding an adequate and even better way to protect the environment with feasible measures in the near future is part of the local action plan of the Municipal Administration. The paper analyzes the impact of economic activities on the endangerment of the living environment, then energy efficiency in buildings, on existing buildings. Suggestions for action aimed at improving the existing state of protection of the living environment, as well as guidelines for urban planning are given. Following the example of developed local communities, models of future construction from the environmental and energy aspects have been proposed.
