: On the day, 11.3.2020. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a pandemic of
the coronavirus COVID-19 and completely changed the lives of the entire population of the planet
Earth. After a year, the situation is worse despite adherence to measures and vaccines. The virus has
mutated; we have several strains that are more contagious and easier to transmit, and a large number of
deaths, especially among the younger population.Currently, there are over 140 million infected people
in the world, while 3 million died from the effects of the coronavirus. It is estimated that 160 people in
the world become infected every minute. However, it is important to emphasize that during the COVID19 pandemic there was a significant improvement, and one could say "recovery" of the environment.
Animal habitats are regenerating, noise in cities is reduced, and CO2 emissions are reduced, which
ultimately leads to a cleaner and healthier air and water, and the recovery of the ozone layer. The aim
of this paper is to present the current situation in the world when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic,
what impact it has had on the environment, and what positive and negative effects on the environmental
protectionit will have in the future.
