Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has consequences in many areas, and one of those areas is traffic
and mobility. Transport and mobility are important for the normal functioning of the urban area and
allow users to travel. Due to the number of passengers using public transport, there is a risk of spreading
the virus. One way to reduce the risk of virus transmission is applying Industry 4.0. This paper aims to
analyze the applicability of Industry 4.0 in decreasing risk infection in public transport. The paper is
based on secondary research and compilation of previous achievements of Industry 4.0 application. The
research identified how Industry 4.0 technologies can reduce the risk of infecting passengers,
employees, and can increase the safety and efficiency of the transport process. The results of the
research are the basis for building a conceptual model of the public transport system using Industry 4.0
technologies.
