Abstract

The circular economy represents an alternative economic model that seeks to minimize waste and optimize resource use through reuse, repair, refurbishment, and recycling. This paper explores the importance of consumer education as a key factor in the successful transition to a circular economy. Through analysis of the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and examples of good practice from the European Union, the paper identifies key educational strategies and their impact on consumer behavior. The results show that informed and educated consumers significantly contribute to the development of circular business models through their consumer decisions. The paper concludes that a systematic approach to consumer education is necessary to achieve the long-term goals of the circular economy and proposes concrete measures to improve educational programs in the context of Bosnia and Herzegovina and alignment with EU practices.
