Abstract

The paper represents a method for determining the gas emissions of road vehicles in the streets. Six intersections were observed in Nis. Specific emissions from vehicles and the total annual emissions were calculated using COPERT methodology. The analysis showed that the observed sections, the specific emissions was 11 times higher, compared to other streets in the city. Based on these facts, the streets are divided into two categories: main streets and side streets. At the end, the analysis of the error is displayed. Although high, the error is still within reasonable limits. The main effect of the application of the results of this study should be to create conditions for reducing the amount of pollutants emitted to realize a certain amount of transport work, and to reduce the adverse impact of vehicles on the environment. High quality and exact data are the basis for modeling various scenarios of changes in the structure of the fleet and usage of vehicles, the effects of these changes on the environment and the impact of these changes on tax policies, possession and use of vehicles, both at the national and local levels.
