Subsidies are one of the key instruments of agricultural policy aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of agricultural production. This paper examines the impact of government support on the productivity of agricultural producers in the Western Balkans. Through a comparative analysis of subsidy models in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, and North Macedonia, the study explores their efficiency, distribution, and impact on small and medium-sized producers. The findings highlight the need to reform support systems to achieve long-term sustainability and more effective resource allocation.
