This paper presents the application of modern technologies in the monitoring of water resources, with a focus on the Lašva River. The importance of physico-chemical parameters as key indicators of water quality and the state of aquatic ecosystems is emphasized. Traditional monitoring approaches based on periodic sampling have certain limitations, which is why modern practice increasingly relies on digital technologies such as IoT sensors and GIS systems. IoT sensors enable continuous real-time data collection, while GIS systems allow spatial analysis and visualization of collected data. The paper highlights the potential application of these technologies in the case of the Lašva River, where their integration could improve water quality monitoring and the identification of pollution sources. Examples of the application of modern technologies in Bosnia and Herzegovina are also presented, indicating their growing importance in environmental protection and sustainable water resource management.
