Everyday traffic accidents occur on roads around the world. The aim of the paper is to point out that besides traffic signalization, which is set up in accordance with regulations, there is a traffic signal set up unauthorizedly by irrelevant individuals for the purpose of their private interest, contrary to the applicable regulations. Such traffic signals seemingly in effect can mislead certain traffic participants, jeopardize traffic safety and, as a consequence, lead to the occurrence of a traffic accident. Through the analysis of a concrete case from the jurisprudence of the competent courts from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, our goal is to point to such a case from the practice and to the consequences of the negligent treatment of individuals. This is important for increasing traffic safety and for the proper attitude of all competent local authorities to act if such a situation arises.
