Abstract

With the development of traffic motorization as well as the increasing demands for optimization of traffic safety and security, the automotive industry has initiated the development of innovations that will contribute to reducing the number of deaths in road traffic. We are witness to frequent traffic accidents caused by disregarding of traffic signs and violation of traffic regulations that often result in death consequences. In order to reduce the mortality rate, due to the driver's violations of already mentioned traffic regulations, the car industry has contributed to the development of a traffic signs recognition system that will greatly assist prompt driver response as well as better perception of the environment. Traffic Signs Recognition Systems represent an upgrade of one of the five basic human senses, which is certainly the most important for road traffic: vision. Taking into account the previous statement, we can rightly expect a reduction in the number of deaths in road traffic, which is also the goal of research and implementation of traffic signs recognition system in veichles.
