We have witnessed the economic crisis and the effects of excessive consumption of resources and the destruction of ecosystems. The green economy has in recent years promoted as a major change in thinking and is considered to be one of the possible successful solutions to improve economic growth while reducing the consumption of resources and prevent the destruction of the ecosystem. Green economy is one in which the increase in income and employment creates such investments, which increase efficiency of the ecosystem and maintain biological diversity. Many countries, including the BiH has been recognized by adopting a green economy as a strategy for the future that leads to social equality and reduction of environmental catastrophe. The concept of green economy requires a wide use of renewable energy sources, increasing the number of jobs and investment in so-called green industries. Green economy to achieve growth of income and employment and to public or private investments. In order to better understand the concept of green economy, this paper contains some basic information about the concept and its implementation in BiH.
