Abstract

Deaths in road accidents are the leading cause of premature death worldwide. Average annual worldwide die about 1.3 million people, and over 50 million people are injured in road accidents. As a result of traffic accidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina yearly average of about 400 persons die and over 11.000 are injured persons. The economic damage that occurs as a result of traffic accidents in BiH is over 400 million, when is concidering of account the cost of treatment, property damage, court costs and administrative expenses. It is necessary to urgently carry out a proper analysis of the existing situation in traffic safetyand developing the Strategy of quality security and traffic safety Program traffic on the roads of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is necessary to adopt appropriate measures and strengthen the social mechanism, which will allow the reduction of the number of persons deaths in road accidents by 6% annually.
