Abstract

The threat to the human environment has taken on and is taking on a global character and is a global problem of modern society. For the first time in human history, all social communities are threatened by the disruption of the ecological balance, more precisely by disobeying the laws that exist in nature, and by man's appropriative attitude towards it. Harmonization of  society's relationship with nature is necessary today and in the future. It presupposes the alignment of man's appropriative goals with natural laws and the creation of changes in nature that correspond to the preservation and rearrangement of the biosphere that suits humans. Such adjustments presuppose and require certain ecological knowledge, which in the past was episodic and sporadic, but with the growth of environmental problems, such knowledge becomes necessary. Namely, ecological knowledge is needed so that man can purposefully change the natural environment, preserving in a certain sense the unity between nature and society, because the cause-and-effect relationship between the emergence of environmental problems and the development of modern industry was noticed early on. Therefore, in order to establish harmony between the demands and needs for technological development and the necessity of preserving the balance in nature, scientific knowledge about the laws of nature and about the changes that have occurred and that may occur in it is necessary. The conflict between progress and ecology has its source in man, who is at the same time a natural being and the bearer of technological development.
