Abstract

The ITS has increasing importance in the traffic management systems. The application of the ITS on sections of roads outside city limits is of significant importance for traffic safety. For this paper, the Banja Luka-Gradiška section was tested. Based on this case study, the results were produced, i.e. short-term, mid-term and long-term plans for the improvement of traffic parameters and the quality of traffic on this section of the road. From the financial point of view, these systems do not generate income, but increase the level of traffic safety and management over this section.
